How to Cultivate Footnote and Endnote in Word 2007


Footnote (footnote) and Endnote (endnotes) are used to give an explanation, a more detailed additional comments or references to certain information contained in the document.

Footnotes or endnotes consist of:

Sign (in the form of a superscript) are located in the document. Signs can include numbers, symbols, or letters.
Contents for a detailed footnotes / endnotes are located at the end of the page or document / section.



How to Insert Footnote and Endnote

Click where you want to insert a footnote mark / endnotes.
On the References tab, Footnotes group, click Insert Footnote (to make a footnote) or Insert Endnote (to make the final note).


Now the cursor will move on the part of the content type footnotes / endnotes.
Note: By default, MS Word will put the contents of Footnote at the end of the page while the content Endnote at the end of the document.
To change the format of footnotes / endnotes, click the Dialog Box Launcher on Footnotes.


In the Footnote and Endnote dialog box, Format section, select the desired number format. If you want to use the symbol, click the Symbol button.
Click Apply to change the format.
Furthermore, in addition to a number or symbol, type the contents of footnotes / endnotes.
To add footnotes / endnotes other with sequential numbers, click on the document that will be marked footnotes / endnotes and press:
CTRL + ALT + F to footnote.
CTRL + ALT + D to endnotes.

In the Number format box, select the desired format. If you want to use the symbol, click the Symbol button.

On the References tab, click the Footnote & EndnoteDialog Box Launcher () to open the dialog box.
In the Start at box, click the 1.
In the Numbering box, select:
Restart each section, footnotes / endnotes begins with the number 1 in each section.
Restart each page, footnotes / endnotes begins with the number 1 on every page.
Click Apply.

When footnotes / endnotes too long, it will be connected on the next page. For that we can make the statement that the reader knows that the footnotes / endnotes is continued on the next page.

Select Draft view.

On the References tab, Footnotes group, click Show Notes.

In the note pane list, click Footnote Continuation Notice (to make a statement in the footer) or Endnote Continuation Notice (to make a statement in the endnotes).

Give the desired format, for example, to change the type font or create italics.
Back to Print Layout and look at the last line of the footnotes / endnotes typed statement has appeared earlier.
